Awards & Recognition

ICES brings together the best and brightest scientific talent. Many of our scientists are internationally recognized in their fields and receive national and international awards and recognition for their important work.

  • International Space Station (ISS) R & D Award

    2015: Dr. Mehran Anvari was awarded the International Space Station (ISS) R & D Award by NASA for his work in applying robotic technology from the International Space Station to detection and treatment of breast cancer.

  • SEAMO New Clinician Scientist Award

    2015-2020: Awarded to Dr. Jason Beyea.

  • Sally Smith Chair in Nursing for the Faculty of Health Sciences

    2015: Dr. Elizabeth VanDenKerkhof was appointed the inaugural Sally Smith Chair in Nursing for the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen's University. This appointment is for a five-year period from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2020.

    Dr. VanDenKerkhof wil study where nursing, as it expands its scope of practice, is headed in the future and also research the prevention of acute and chronic pain, and use of technology to improve care.

  • Alberta Innovates Clinician Fellowship Award

    2015: Awarded to Dr. Amy Yu for the project "TIA and Minor Stroke Early evaluation And Management for Stroke prevention (TEAMS)."

  • CDA-RFS Faculty Clinical Teaching Award

    2015: Awarded to Dr. Aaron Drucker by the Canadian Dermatology Association Residents and Fellows Society.

  • Peters Boyd Academy Preclerkship Teaching Award

    2015: Awarded to Dr. Kelvin Chan for his teaching work with the Peters-Boyd Academy.

  • Claire Bombardier Award

    2015: Awarded to Dr. Natasha Saunders by the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto for the most promising student in the Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research Program.

  • Thomas and Edna Naylor Award

    2015: Awarded to Dr. Natasha Saunders by the Institute of Health, Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto. The award is for a graduate student (MSc or PhD) who completes the best paper based on their thesis in the field of health services research.

  • Thomas and Edna Naylor Award

    2015: Awarded to Dr. Dallas Seitz by the Institute of Health, Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto. The award is for a graduate student (MSc or PhD) who completes the best paper based on their thesis in the field of health services research.

  • American Thoracic Society Scientific Abstract Award

    2015: Presented to Dr. Matthew Stanbrook for the best scientific abstract in Behavioral Science and Health Services Research. The award was presented at the ATS International Conference.
