ICES brings together the best and brightest scientific talent. Many of our scientists are internationally recognized in their fields and receive national and international awards and recognition for their important work.

  • Canadian Association of Gastroenterology Young Investigator Award

    2015: Awarded to Dr. Geoffrey Nguyen. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to gastroenterology through basic and/or clinical research by a young investigator.

  • Top 20 Pioneers in Family Medicine Research in Canada

    2015: Dr. Janet Smylie recognized by The College of Family Physicians of Canada for her work with, and personal investment in, the health care of Indigenous communities in Canada.

  • Top 20 Pioneers in Family Medicine Research in Canada

    2015: Dr. Moira Stewart recognized by The College of Family Physicians of Canada for her contribution as an epidemiologist with quantitative research expertise.

  • Top 20 Pioneers in Family Medicine Research in Canada

    2015: Dr. Richard Birtwhistle recognized by The College of Family Physicians of Canada for his work with the Canadian Primary Care Sentinel Surveillance Network (CPCSSN), a pan-Canadian network of practitioners with electronic medical records (EMRs).

    2015: Dr. Rick Glazier recognized by The College of Family Physicians of Canada for his work using health administrative data at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES).

  • Top 20 Pioneers in Family Medicine Research in Canada

    2015: Dr. Ross Upshur recognized by The College of Family Physicians of Canada for his research in public health and his use of a variety of research methodologies and approaches from a broad range of disciplines.

  • Graduate Literary Award, Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation

    2015 — Presented to Dr. Moira Kapral. The purpose of the award is to stimulate writing and publishing by graduates from the Institute and provide recognition to those graduates who publish superior articles each year.

  • Dr. David Sackett Senior Investigator Award

    2015: Awarded to Dr. Stephen Hwang by the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine (CSIM) for excellence in research by a senior Canadian general internist.

  • Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences

    2015: Dr. Angela Colantonio named 2015 Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. Election to fellowship in the Academy is considered one of the highest honours in the Canadian health sciences community.
