Awards & Recognition

ICES brings together the best and brightest scientific talent. Many of our scientists are internationally recognized in their fields and receive national and international awards and recognition for their important work.

  • Mid-Career Investigator Heart and Stroke Foundation, Ontario

    2013 - 2017: Awarded to Dr. Robert Fowler over four years. Dr. Fowler's research topic is "Improving end-of-life care for Canadians with heart disease and stroke."

  • Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) Investigator Award

    2013-2018: Awarded to Dr. Craig Earle. The program provides stable recruitment and retention funding for principal investigators in Ontario, further strengthening the province’s cancer research capacity.

  • Heart and Stroke Foundation Career Investigator Award

    Peter Austin is the recipient of a 2013 Heart and Stroke Foundation Career Investigator Award. Peter is developing statistical tools to help cardiovascular researchers.   • Outstanding Teaching Award

    June 2013: Presented to Dr. Kelvin Chan for teaching in the Medical Oncology Training Program, Sunnybrook Hospital.

  • Randall Coates Epidemiology Prize

    2013: Awarded to Dr. Beth Rachlis by the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. The prize is awarded to current or graduating student in the Division of Epidemiology whose research is in the area of communicable diseases and demonstrates academic excellence.

  • Society for Medical Decision Making Teaching Award

    2013: Awarded to Dr. Jeffrey Hoch for Best Short Course Faculty for "Introduction to Cost-Effectiveness Analysis"

  • CIHR Doctoral Award

    2013-2018: Awarded to Dr. Rachel Savage for "Importation of infectious diseases through travel and immigration in Ontario"

  • Academic Medical Organization of Southwestern Ontario Opportunities Fund

    2013-15: Dr. Alejandro Lazo-Langner was the recipient of a Salary Support Award.

  • 2013 American College of Cardiology Young Investigator Award

    Awarded to Sacha Bhatia

  • Arthur E. Weyman Young Investigator's Award

    2013: Awarded to Sacha Bhatia for "An educational intervention reduces the rate of inappropriate transthoracic echocardiograms in ambulatory care"
