Diabetes in Ontario: An ICES Practice Atlas

Hux JE, Booth GL, Slaughter PM, Laupacis A, editors. June 2003

Diabetes is a leading cause of death in Canada and a growing health problem in Ontario. Over two million Canadians have diabetes at an estimated cost of $9 billion annually. The expected future growth of this disease over the coming decades raises concerns about its impact on the health of Ontarians and the pressures it will place on our health care system.

This research atlas is the most comprehensive resource on diabetes ever produced in North America and among the most extensive in the world. It provides population-based evidence to support policy development, resource planning and care for improved health outcomes.
