ICES receives RBC Foundation grant to strengthen research capacity of Indigenous communities

Share

ICES is pleased to accept a one-year grant of $75,000 from the RBC Foundation. The funds will be used to support First Nations, Métis and Inuit researchers and trainees to conduct independent studies using ICES data.

This work builds on the success of the ICES Indigenous health data training program, which was launched in 2019 to promote an understanding of how ICES data can be used to answer health questions and support participants in conveying research findings back to their communities.

The RBC Foundation’s funding will allow ICES to refine the Indigenous health data training program based on feedback obtained when it was piloted in three First Nations communities, establish in-person and virtual training materials and offer the program in more communities.
