ICES students recipients of Rising Star Awards

ICES students Jennifer Watt and Lauren Lapointe-Shaw are two of three recipients of CIHR-IHSPR’s 2019 Rising Star Award. The award recognizes research excellence and innovative knowledge translation initiatives of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows studying health services and policy research.

Watt, a geriatrician, was selected for her CMAJ paper Comparative risk of harm associated with trazodone or atypical antipsychotic use in older adults with dementia: a retrospective cohort study. Lapointe-Shaw, an internal medicine physician, was recognized for her paper Death and readmissions after hospital discharge during the December holiday: cohort study published in BMJ. Both recipients are 2019 graduates of the University of Toronto’s PhD program in clinical epidemiology and healthcare research.
