ICES scientist Husam Abdel-Qadir awarded Polanyi Prize

ICES adjunct scientist Dr. Husam Abdel-Qadir is a recipient of the John Charles Polanyi Prize, which is awarded to five early-career researchers who are pursuing post-doctoral studies or have recently obtained an academic appointment at an Ontario university. The prize, valued at $20,000, honours Dr. John Polanyi, a Canadian scientist and educator who received the 1986 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Dr. Abdel-Qadir’s research focuses on reducing cardiovascular disease in cancer patients. In addition to being an ICES scientist, he is a cardiologist at Women’s College Hospital and the University Health Network and an assistant professor in the University of Toronto’s Department of Medicine.
