Two ICES teams received Pearl awards from the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) for their research presentations at the NAPCRG Annual Meeting held November 12-16, 2016 in Colorado. NAPCRG Pearls recognize the top research studies presented at the NAPCRG Annual Meeting that will impact clinical practice.

Tara Kiran and team members Rahim Moineddin, Alex Kopp, Eliot Frymire and Rick Glazier received the award for the presentation entitled “Did introduction of medical homes with mandatory after-hours provision reduce emergency department utilization?”

Liisa Jaakkimainen and team members Hong Lu, Jacqueline Young and Karen Tu received the award for the presentation “Does prompt receipt of a discharge note by a patient's family physician reduce the rate of readmissions and emergency room visits in a universally funded healthcare system?”

The Pearls are chosen each year by NAPCRG’s Community Clinician Advisory Group which is composed of primary care clinicians from Canada and the U.S.

Congratulations to all the team members!
