ICES research selected for Canadian Cancer Society’s Top 10 Research Impact Stories of 2015

Share

Announced today, a study by ICES scientists is one of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Top 10 Research Impact Stories of 2015. The study, “Quality indicators of end-of-life care in patients with cancer: what rate is right?” was led by ICES senior adjunct scientist Dr. Lisa Barbera. ICES adjunct scientist Dr. Hsien Yeang Seow and ICES senior scientist Dr. Rinku Sutradhar were co-authors.

Each year, the Canadian Cancer Society selects 10 publications that demonstrate the reach of cancer research across Canada and the best of what science can achieve. The chosen ICES study, published in the Journal of Oncology Practice, found significant variation in quality of end-of-life care provided to patients from 33 regions across four provinces in Canada. This research established benchmarks that can help regions evaluate the quality of services they provide, as well as their allocation of resources to improve the quality of healthcare provided to patients.

Congratulations to our scientists!
