On World Cancer Day (February 4, 2015), the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) announced a $6.4 million investment into world-class cancer research. The Health Services Research Program, led by ICES scientist Dr. Craig Earle, is a joint program of the OICR and Cancer Care Ontario (CCO), in collaboration with ICES. The research will focus on increasing screening rates for colon cancer, decreasing toxicity for patients undergoing chemotherapy and improving pain management for cancer patients.

“The partnership between ICES, OICR and CCO is another example of how data and discovery are being used to improve the healthcare of Ontarians. We welcome this innovative collaboration and the impact it will have on making healthcare policy better and people healthier,” says Michael Schull, ICES president and CEO.
