Biography

Joan Tranmer is a professor in the School of Nursing and Department of Public Health Sciences at Queen's University. She received her PhD in nursing in 1999 from University of Toronto, and both her MSc in 1992 and BNSc in 1975 from Queen's University. Before joining Queen's School of Nursing as a full time faculty member in 2005, she worked at Kingston General Hospital in a variety of clinical and leadership positions. Dr. Tranmer has received personnel support from the MOHLTC and CIHR and has an active health services research program with two foci: understanding the needs of, and improving the care of, individuals with complex chronic illness conditions and understanding the relationships between work-related factors and cardiovascular and cancer risk in women.
