Biography

Hélène Ouellette-Kuntz is a professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences and director of the Masters in Epidemiology Program at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. She is also affiliated with Ongwanada, a community-based agency for persons with intellectual disabilities in Southeastern Ontario where she works as an epidemiologist.

Over the past decade, Dr. Ouellette-Kuntz has directed a national study of the epidemiology of autism and created the National Epidemiologic Database for the Study of Autism in Canada. As director of the Southeastern Ontario Community-University Research Alliance in Intellectual Disabilities and principal investigator of the Multidimensional Assessment of Providers and Systems Research Program, she directs an extensive research partnership focusing on the impact of social inclusion policy across a service system. Since 2011, Dr. Ouellette-Kuntz has led a study that uses administrative health data to examine disparities in health and healthcare access experienced by adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Ontario.

Since 2008, Dr. Ouellette-Kuntz has served as secretary for the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and is an active member of its Physical Health Special Interest Research Group.
