Dr. Robert Nam is currently the Ajmera Chair of Urologic Oncology, head of the Genitourinary Cancer Site Group, Edmond Odette Cancer Centre, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and professor of surgery at the University of Toronto. He received his medical degree from the University of Toronto and completed his urology residency and uro-oncology fellowship training there in 2002. His research interests include the genetic epidemiology of prostate cancer, new biomarker discovery for prostate cancer diagnosis, and population-based studies in prostate cancer. He has been awarded multiple operating grants from CIHR and the NIH in prostate cancer research, and has published over 100 high impact papers in the field of prostate cancer genetics and population-based outcomes studies. He has received multiple research awards from the University of Toronto, CIHR, the Ministry of Research and Innovation of the Government of Ontario, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He has also received multiple teaching awards from his students at the University of Toronto and from the Professional Association of Residents of Ontario.
