ICES scientist Dr. Janet Smylie receives $1 million grant from Slaight Family Foundation

Congratulations to ICES adjunct scientist Dr. Janet Smylie, who is the recipient of a $1 million grant from the Slaight Family Foundation to train healthcare personnel to overcome racial biases which can lead to healthcare delivery inequities. This grant is part of a $12 million donation from the Slaight Family Foundation to 15 non-profit organizations, including St. Michael’s Hospital, that help improve the lives of Indigenous peoples in Canada.

Dr. Smylie is a scientist at St. Michael's Hospital, and director of the Well Living House Action Research Centre for Indigenous Infant, Child and Family Health and Well-Being, based at St. Michael’s Hospital.
