Biography

Jack Williams is a scientist emeritus at ICES and in the Clinical Epidemiology and Health Services Research Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where he had been a senior scientist since 1989. At ICES, he has also held the positions of deputy director of research and president and CEO. Prior to retirement, Dr. Williams held academic appointments at the University of Toronto in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and of Public Health Sciences, as well as graduate appointments in Dentistry, Institute of Medical Science, Nursing Science, and Rehabilitation Science. A sociologist and demographer by training, Dr. Williams has focused on the methods, designs and statistics for estimating the impacts of disease and health services on outcomes in society. He continues to consult with ICES and other organizations and is involved in peer-review activities.
