Senior Adjunct Scientist (Full Status) ICES UofT Chronic Disease & Pharmacotherapy Research Program

Biography

Dr. Teresa To holds a PhD in epidemiology and biostatistics and is a senior scientist at the Child Health Evaluative Sciences of the Hospital for Sick Children's Research Institute. She is a professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and a senior adjunct scientist at ICES. She is currently the chair of the Contributors Oversight Committee ICES UofT. Her research interests are the patterns of healthcare utilization, access to care and practice patterns for a variety of medical and surgical conditions. She is the founder of OASIS, the Ontario Asthma Surveillance Information System and a Canadian representative to the WHO-Global Alliance Against Respiratory Diseases. Her program currently focuses on measuring long-term asthma health outcomes and in developing indicators to measure and benchmark quality of asthma care in the primary care settings.

She received the 5-year Investigator Award from CIHR and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care in 2001; the Dales Award in Medical Research from the University of Toronto for outstanding research in clinical and community health research in 2007; was named by the International Research Promotion Council's World Scientists Forum “Eminent Scientist of the year 2008” for her research in community health and research contributions to the control of asthma in 2008; and was the recipient of the University of Toronto Eugene Stewart Award of excellence in MSc/PhD supervision in 2012.
