Rayzel Shulman

Adjunct Scientist (Full Status) ICES Central Chronic Disease & Pharmacotherapy Research Program

Biography

Dr. Shulman joined ICES as a research fellow in 2015 and was appointed as an adjunct scientist in 2017. She is a staff physician in the Division of Endocrinology at the Hospital for Sick Children and an associate professor in the Department of Paediatrics and Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. She received her BSc at McGill University, her MD at McMaster University in 2004, and her PhD in Health Services Research from the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto in 2015. She completed her post-graduate medical training in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology at the Hospital for Sick Children.

Dr. Shulman’s research program is focused on developing and evaluating health services interventions to improve health outcomes and the quality of care for youth living with diabetes as they transition to adult care. She is particularly interested in developing and evaluating interventions that leverage existing population-level administrative datasets to inform health system change. She work with teams of researchers from disciplines including health service research, implementation science, and quality improvement.
