Biography

Joel Ray is currently a clinician-scientist at St. Michael's Hospital and professor in the Department of Medicine and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. Dr. Ray’s clinical specialties are obstetrical medicine and internal medicine and his research interests include maternal and fetal health, diabetes and pregnancy, and ethnicity and pregnancy outcomes. In 2013, he was named a CIHR Chair in Reproductive and Child Health Services and Policy Research.

Dr. Ray received an MD and a FRCPC in Academic General Internal Medicine from McMaster University. He completed a fellowship in obstetrical medicine and women’s health at the University of Toronto, and then took further clinical training in thrombosis medicine at McMaster University. He completed an editorial fellowship at the Annals of Internal Medicine in Philadelphia.
